Artist's Statement

The Nazis, German professionals, and other civil leaders contributed to the persecution of the Jewish people by suppressing their beliefs and committing mass genocide to exterminate their religion and population across the world.This art piece symbolizes suppression and control of the victims of the Holocaust. A Jewish man, trapped in a cage represents all of the people that were taken from their homes, sent to death camps, to wait, scared, and killed. The hand holding the cage represents the victimizers of the imprisoned people: Hitler, Nazis, and many other leaders or bystanders that either did not help in aiding the Jewish people escape or aiding in their capture by turning them over to their oppressors.
