Artist's Statement
I chose to make this drawing to show how the Jewish people were treated during the Holocaust. It didn’t matter if someone was only a child, if they were Jewish, then they were persecuted. These children were hated and abused by non-Jewish people for doing nothing wrong. They had to leave their homes, their synagogues, their friends, and their communities and were deported to concentration camps. Once there, most children didn’t survive. The ones that did survive were beaten, starved, and humiliated and had no way to escape. Human beings should never treat each other this way. I hope that everyone can look at what the Jewish people went through during the Holocaust and make sure something like that never happens again.
