Artist's Statement
My art piece represents Corrie ten Boom because she was the Jews’ sign of hope that they had a chance of freedom when she helped to hide them from being arrested and deported. I did two Jews enclosed behind the barbed wire to represent captivity. I put the slightest bit of color into their outfits and their eyes to represent how they felt. This little color represented the Jews being controlled, captivated, and not really looking for the positive side of things. On the outer part of the barbed wire I painted a yellow butterfly. I did a yellow butterfly because the color yellow represents hope and a butterfly represents hope and rebirth which I meant for it to show hope in a new and better life and not to just look at the negative things.
