Author's Statement

The stages of escalation given in this prompt not only connect to the wearing of the Star of David but also to the choice of wearing a hijab today. Prejudice may start small, but it can have astronomical impacts as it can lead to devastating events such as the Holocaust. I believe that we need to learn from the past so that we can have a better future, and this piece reflects that. The discrimination against Islamic women is unacceptable and we must not let it extend further. If someone was advocating for Jews during the Holocaust, the outcome could have been different. Thus, we have to learn from this so that we know how to fight for the people that need it today.
