Author's Statement
This story contains two different points of view: the first part of the story is told from an SS officer's point of view, who examines how and why they did not speak up against the horrible things they saw in Auschwitz; and the second part of the story is told from the perspective of a victim of the Guatemalan Genocide, who questions why the chief leader's ignorance of the government's instability eventually allowed for the entire village to be annihilated.
