Artist's Statement
The two scenes in my artwork depict moving from liberation to recovery. One the left are Holocaust prisoners during liberation. The American soldier and survivor are both standing on the Nazi flag, depicting how they defeated them. The right shows the survivors after liberation with the Red Cross. A Jewish boy and Red Cross woman are standing on a Nazi flag that fades to a Jewish flag, showing how they let the memory of the Holocaust behind and focused on recovering through their Jewish customs. Further, the painting fades to light, representing the growing light in the Holocaust survivors' lives.
